Advent epitomises the whole of history

ADVENT EPITOMISES THE WHOLE OF HISTORY

Advent epitomises the whole of history.  Advent represents history; it is like an adventure that is still open and awaiting the choice that we are about to make, since each one of us can modify this history, give it a different outcome and orientate it towards God or towards ourselves.
Rilke spoke magnificently of that unique, infinite event in any home – the birth of a child.  A newborn child brings a new way of looking at life; a new freedom; a new choice.  There is a new person in the world and the child’s freedom, which will blossom, will give to the world a new perspective.  It will take hold of history in order to give it a new outcome, to create a new order in the universe.
The whole of humanity gathered together in the love of Jesus Christ, receives new dignity because an infinite horizon is opened up to us when we receive in our hands the destiny and meaning of History.
The Christian must have a universal heart.  Christians are called with Jesus Christ to go beyond themselves because they are responsible, not only for themselves, but also for the entire universe, the whole of humanity and even more: they are responsible for God in all of History and in the whole universe.
