THE WAITING FOR THE WAITING

THE WAITING FOR THE WAITING

God, you chose to make us wait for you

for a whole  advent time.

I don’t like waiting

in the long queues

I don’t like waiting my turn.

I don’t like waiting for the train.

I don’t like waiting to judge.

I don’t like waiting for the moment.

I don’t like waiting for another day.

I don’t like waiting

because I haven’t the time

and I only live in the present moment.

I don’t need to wait for the news:

it  goes before me.

But you, o God,

you chose to make us wait for you

for a whole advent time.

Because you made waiting

into a conversion-space,

the face-to-face with what is hidden,

the wearing that never wears.

The waiting, only the waiting,

the waiting for the waiting,

the intimacy of the expectation in us

because only expectation can awaken our attention

and only attention is capable of loving.

Everything is already given in the waiting

and for you, God,

waiting and prayer combine.
